Gosaikunda is an alpine freshwater body system in Langtang National Park at an altitude of 4,380m in the Rasuwa District. The lake melts and makes a drainage system to Trishuli River and remains frozen for six months in winter from October to June. Langtang Gosiankunda Trek takes you to the spectacular valley of Langtang National Park that is embellished with azure mountain lakes and incredible highland scenery. The main highlights of Langtang Gosainkunda trek is the exotic 108 lakes scattered around the Gosainkunda region along with the surrounding Himalaya, picturesque scenery and delightful forest. Besides alluring lakes and mountains, this trek also offers privilege to explore fascinating and untamed civilization of Tamang and Sherpa tribe still generating their livelihood by agriculture farming, yak pasture and cheese business. Langtang National Park is the repository of natural grandeur where you can explore many flora and fauna preserved inside the park. Traversing through lush forest of rhododendron and bamboo of the park gives you delightful opportunity to explore the rare Red Panda and many other faunal species residing in the park.
The popular spot to start trek to Gosainkunda is Dhunche village or Syabru Besi both from the Langtang region. Alternatively, trekkers can choose to start voyage from Sundarijal, which is nestled on the outskirts of Kathmandu valley. Many trekkers love to overnight at Laurebinayak which offers fascinating view of sunrise and sunset along with Langtang and Ganesh Himal. The craftsmanship, art, dress and traditionally carved walls and building reflects the ancient history of the region. The main descendents Tamang and Sherpa are originally from Tibet whose religion, languages, cultures and languages resembles to that of Tibet. Lantang Gosainkunda trekking provides remarkable trekking route that goes through varied landscapes and holy lakes of Gosainkunda. Day 01: Arrival atKathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport (1,300m) and drive from Kathmandu toSyabru Besi (1,460m/8-9 hours drive) through private vehicle. Stay overnight athotel.
Day 02: Trek from Syabrubesi to Ghoda Tabela (2,900m/7-8hours walking). Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Trek from Ghoda Tabela to Kanjing Gompa (3,900m/6-7hours walking). Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 04: Trek back to Bamboo (2,100m/7-8 hours walking). Stayovernight at hotel.
Day 05: Trek from Bamboo to SingGompa (3,250m/7-8 hours walking)
Day 06: Trek from Sing Gompa toPhedi (3,740m/7-8 hours walking) crossing Lauribinak Pass (4,607m) andGosaikunda Lake (4,260m)
Day 07: Trek from Phedi toKutumsang (2,500m/7-8 hours walking)
Day 08: Trek from Kutumsang toChisopani (2,160m/6 hours walking)
Day 09: Trek from Chisopani toSundarijal and drive back to Kathmandu (3 hours walking and 1 hour drive)
